Rebecca (Bec) Scott – STREAT, Co-founder and CEO

Bec Scott is the Co-founder and CEO of STREAT, a Melbourne-based hospitality social enterprise devoted to helping marginalised young people aged 16-25 years. STREAT runs eight foodservice businesses, including five cafes, an artisan bakery, a coffee roastery and a catering and events company. To date STREAT’s worked with over 1500 young people who’ve helped serve 2 million customers, whilst gaining 75,000 hours of support and training.

STREAT started operations in 2010 in Federation Square with 2 small food carts, 3 staff and 9 young people who really needed a hand. It now has over 70 staff, is 70% self-funding and has plans to grow significantly in its second decade.

Prior to starting STREAT Bec spent a decade at the CSIRO working in science communication. Bec (a Plant Biologist) is also passionate about the arts and has spent 20 years collaborating with artists, photographers, illustrators, writers, makers and designers. On a weekend you’ll usually find her doing an arts side project, pottering around in STREAT’s garden with her partner and Co-founder Kate, or playing Lego with their son Will.
