Wendy has worked in, lectured and researched the nonprofit and philanthropy sector for more than three decades. She led the cross-university team on Giving Australia – the nation’s most comprehensive research into giving and volunteering. Wendy has researched the many ways that people give, especially in a planned versus spontaneous way. Wendy serves on government bodies, philanthropic grants committees and international research boards; chaired a community organisation for more than a decade and was CEO of a health nonprofit. She holds two QUT Vice-Chancellor’s Performance Awards and won Fundraising Institute Australia’s inaugural Arthur Venn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. Wendy has been involved in workplace giving since the 1980s and believes strongly in its role and impact.

Wendy is a Fellow of Fundraising Institute Australia and a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia.  She serves on the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Nonprofit and Public Sector Marketing.  She received a Vice-Chancellor’s Performance Award in 2016 and 2017.
