Finalists Announced: 2020 Workplace Giving Excellence Awards
16 October 2020
The fifth annual Workplace Giving Excellence Awards recognise the most outstanding workplace giving (wpg) programs across Australia. The Awards motivate and instil pride in employers, inspire their workforces and create an overall sense of achievement for organisations across the country.
This year saw a continued increase in applicants, with a record 62 entries received. Reflecting the challenges that the world is facing, the most applied for category in 2020 was the Best Employer Response to a Crisis.
Jenny Geddes, CEO, Workplace Giving Australia said, “to address the unprecedented level of crises faced over the past year, this year’s Awards campaign introduced a new category – the ‘Best Employer Response to a Crisis’. It is perhaps no surprise that this was the most competitive category, with entries received from across Australia. In a year when many other forms of fundraising have ceased, wpg in all its forms, has proven to be one of the most important channels of giving.”
“In such a busy year, we were delighted that so many employers and charities took the necessary time to enter the Awards. Also, we are grateful for the support of the Department of Social Services, which sponsored the Most Innovative Charity and Employer Partnership Award and for the services of the esteemed panel of judges. The Panels’ resounding feedback was that ‘it was not an easy task to determine the finalists as there were so many outstanding entries’. The panel did comment that those entries that were able to demonstrate the impact of the programs really stood out” said Geddes.
