2022 Australian Workplace Giving Awards calling for applications

Applications are now open for the 2022 Australian Workplace Giving Awards, the largest independent forum that has recognised excellence in corporate-based generosity since the One Million Donors campaign began in 2014.

Against the backdrop of the pandemic, a challenging economy, social and environmental justice issues supporting causes and communities in need is more vital and urgent than ever. Workplace giving of all kinds – time, money and goods -mean a regular and reliable income for charitable organisations. The Awards celebrate significant achievements in the corporate and charitable sectors.  Hosted by One Million Donors, the Awards are sponsored by Workplace Giving Australia, an Australian charity created to advise employers on how to develop best practice giving programs, and advocate for giving at work as the easiest and most effective way for working Australians to support charity.

“Astonishing work happens in our communities every day, 24/7 to support people, animals and environments . Dedicated, hardworking individuals and teams are behind every charitable organisation, striving to find resources to help others. The workplace has become an Australian powerhouse helping them achieve change, and so many employers now make it easy for their team to give, to partner and to volunteer.  The Awards will showcase some of that work and we’re thrilled to be able to provide a platform to recognise best-practice thinking and innovation in giving,” said Associate Professor Wendy Scaife, the 2022 Judging Panel Chair and Director of QUT’s Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies.

“We are delighted to support the Workplace Giving Awards”, Workplace Giving Australia, Good2Give and Sharegift Australia Group CEO David Mann said. “We’re excited to see donors, corporates and charities from around Australia come forward to showcase their great work over the past year. The Awards represent a fantastic opportunity to highlight the innovative, engaging, and effective ways charitable giving can enable real community impact. When donors, corporates and charities work together, great things can happen. It is our mission to make giving part of everyday life in Australia, and we are delighted to celebrate all those who share that ambition.”

The Australian Workplace Giving Awards celebrate the most outstanding workplace giving programs across the country. Hosted by One Million Donors, a movement for social change launched in 2014, our mission is to see one million Australians making donations to charity directly from their pay.

Workplace giving programs are evolving beyond strictly payroll giving.  We will be celebrating all forms of workplace giving from pre-tax payroll giving programs, to innovative charity and employer partnerships, employee-nominated grants programs, and more.

The Awards are judged by a panel of independent thought leaders and champions of workplace giving. Chaired by Associate Professor Wendy Scaife from the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, the judges represent a variety of sectors, with representatives from Energy Australia, The Smith Family, Philanthropy Australia, Volunteering Australia, B4SI, and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.

No matter what your workplace giving program looks like, we encourage you to apply to the 7th annual Workplace Giving Excellence Awards. The awards are a great way to create an overall sense of achievement across your organisation while inspiring stakeholders and instilling pride in your employees.

What is workplace giving?
