November 2, 2017 – Employee support for Workplace Giving programs and their effectiveness in initiating change in the community have been acknowledged at this year’s Workplace Giving Awards.

Hosted by The Australian Charities Fund (ACF), six leading organisations accepted gold accolades for their successful programs.

As a pillar of ACF’s One Million Donors campaign, the Awards – now in their second year – aim to recognise the success of Workplace Giving as the most cost effective form of charity donations from working Australians and encourage others to participate.

A key goal is to see one million Australians donating to charity direct from their pay by 2020. This milestone would create an additional donation flow of over $250 million each year from working Australians to charity.

Jenny Geddes, ACF’s CEO, said, “we’re thrilled to see the continued support for Workplace Giving and the fantastic outcomes achieved by those recognised at the Awards.  These programs engage staff and generate a sense of pride for employees who can see their donations hard at work in the local community. Workplace Giving is the most efficient and ethical way of making charitable donations, and I encourage all businesses – big and small – to participate.”

JB Hi-Fi, Group CEO, Richard Murray
“I’m incredibly proud of The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi teams.  To receive Gold Awards, across a number of categories, is testament to the generosity, support and creativity of our team members.  Our Workplace Giving programs are something we all take great pride in and it is amazing to see the incredible work of our charity partners.  Workplace Giving has become an integral part of the Group’s culture and I would encourage other business leaders to embrace this form of giving. Doing so not only enables your teams to give to charity in the most cost effective way, but also supports positive staff engagement.”

The Song Room, CEO, Caroline Aebersold
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised with such a prestigious award and offer our thanks to JB Hi-Fi for its continued support. We believe all children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, should have the opportunity to participate in music and arts programs to improve their school engagement – and that is clearly supported by the JB Hi-Fi team through its Workplace Giving program, Helping Hands.”

Redkite, CEO, Jenni Seton
“Now in its seventh year of partnership with Redkite, the JB Hi-Fi team has raised over $1.4M through Workplace Giving donations and two incredible in-store fundraising campaigns held in 2016 and 2017 in support of children and young people facing cancer.  Our partnership is an outstanding example of how effective Workplace Giving can provide really meaningful support to families on their cancer journey.”

The Myer Family Company, Head of Philanthropy, Simon Lewis
“Workplace Giving enables our staff to do their bit to build on the legacy of the Myer Family who have a long history of philanthropy and giving to the community. We are so proud of the contribution our Foundation made this year; it is a demonstration of what can be achieved when staff are invited to bring their personal passion for a stronger community to work.”
